To make a payment

The company could be more diligent about answering phone calls. Recorded messages are very impersonal. When making payments I like to have immediate feedback from companies that have local offices.

False information on my credit report

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I had a loan with Mariner, which defaulted due to an identity theft issue. I have a third party taking care of the repayment for this and other accounts.

I have only done business with Mariner one time with one loan. They chose to list the closed account on my credit report twice with two different opening and closing dates. I filed disputes with the credit reporting agencies, and they are being stalled by Mariner. I filed a CFPB complaint and Mariner states they need more time.

I filed a BBB complaint and they posted a copy-paste response to call them. I have sent numerous messages via the Mariner contact form. They simply seem to refuse to remove fraudulent information from my credit report that negatively impacts my score.

I guess the next step is filing a damages suit against Mariner. They already have a class action suit in the works against them for various reasons.

Preferred solution: Removal of fraudulent information from my credit report

"filing a damages suit" LOL...Broke and Dusty people (with terrible credit) who borrow from a joint like this do not have attorney money. Dispute the entries with the three credit agencies.

They'll reach out to this thing.

If they don't respond, the entries will be removed. Next time, go to a REAL bank.

Its nothing more than another serial deadbeat crying, whining and stomping their feet because they have a horrendous repayment record and they just can't stand the consequences THEY caused! They look around for something to "pin on" the lender because the lender holds them to their promise to make payments on time, every time.

Its the very typical sorry serial deadbeat response, especially when they throw around the phrase "class action". They have zero clue as to what they are talking about!!!

Guest

Keep pushing the issue with the CFPB, it matters. These people have a horrific reputation. The CFPB takes time, but the most powerful body that can take action against them.

Guest

The only "reputation" is they hold deadbeats to their promise to pay back what they borrowed. Get the facts straight!

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-2533441

Isn't it such a shame they expect you serial deadbeats to make your payments on time? Somebody should start a class action suit just for THAT reason!

Misconduct on handling account

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

"I have borrowed from Manier Financial for several years and paid off all my personal loans with them except one. I fell into financial hardship when my dad suffered a massive heart attack in July of 2018.

The loan was in a slow pay status with my local court system. I would send on average three payments or more monthly to Manier Financial's third party collection agency. I did this so my debt would be paid up for the following months in advance, indicating on each check that this is a future payment for the next month. I continued this process of multiple payments monthly for three years.

Then in December 2023, I sent Manier Financial's third party collection agency three payments. One check was for December, the second check was for January, and the third check was for February. All three checks were cashed in December and posted to my Manier Financial account as three separate entries. Then I was informed this month by Manier Financial's third party collection agency that they are trying to garnish my wages due to non-payment.

I replied to the young woman on the phone, "Yes, I did provide payment for January and February." Then, she admitted that the collection agency did have and cashed the payments for January and February, but because they were received in December, they are still trying to garnish my wages. Manier Financial's third party collection agency's actions are unprofessional, ridiculous, and represent a misappropriation of funds.

Consumers, please beware of Manier Financial's unprofessional conduct with how personal accounts are handled regarding payments.

This is not the first but the third incident with this company. I had to get the regional manager involved before; the first two instances were corrected by the local branch.

You sound beyond stupid.... First of all, NO ONE sees checks (who still pays by check) that come into a bank.

They are automatically opened and scanned. It's not as if someone is sitting around with a letter opener going envelope by envelope and tacking a check to a board. It's your job to handle your business like an adult. Secondly, you made a deal to pay on time all of the time.

Unless your contract had some kind of hardship clause, you abandoned the contract and were sent to collections. This isn't George Bailey pay it when you can. You pay it when you're supposed to.

This is typical serial deadbeat noise, always a reason to not pay... This is probably why you're dealing with a crazy place like this.,

Hidden Insurance add-ons

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My mother recently went to the Dickson, TN location and got a loan. The branch manager rushed through the signing process and didn't explain everything thoroughly.

I looked over the paperwork later that night and there was extra insurance that was added to the loan that my mother didn't ask for and wasn't told it was optional. There was also two checks made payable to my mother but she only received one. When I ask my mother about the other check she said the branch manager told her she needed her to sign the back of the check. My mother ask her why she had to sign the check and she was told it was something new they was doing so my mother trusted what she was told.

After doing research I found out the company has a law suit for hidden add-on products that people didn't know about or agree to. I feel my mother was taken advantage of and I will look into this matter a little closer now that I know other borrowers was taken advantage of.

If you saw it, it wasn't "hidden"! "Hidden" is the EXCUSE people use when they have so little common sense they sign papers without reading what they are agreeing to.

How STUPID is that? Of course, there's always an excuse to blame somebody else.

Guest

" didn't explain everything thoroughly." In addition to being broke, and desperate with bad credit, your mom was stupid to sign anything she didn't understand. Her fault.

She has to live with it. Hope she did something that builds wealth with that money as she'll be paying for it a long time.

Unprofessional and misinformed

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I only gave one star just so I can comment. They dont even deserve that.

If youre interested in being strung along day after day while being told that theres only one more thing that needs to go before the All Powerful and Mysterious Underwriter (even though they told you that you were approved, after the first submission) being repeatedly lied to, and getting credit inquiries, this is definitely the company for you. They told me that they were definitely able to help me get turned around and bridge the gap while recouping from identity theft. Then it was if I had a co-signer. I told them that I didnt want an inquiry on his report if there was even a remote chance of not being approved.

I was reassured that I was going to be, and this was just a minor technicality due to my dti ratio from current theft. Then his paystub wasnt still attached to his check, and paystub didnt have name on it??? Each time being resubmitted to Oz, I mean underwriting, and told we would close that evening, or next morning etc. This evening the call came and we were denied!!!

Hows that possible, you ask? After all of the promises of helping me get my financial life back?! Why would they not approve it? Because when they asked for his income, he gave them his (weekly average) income, just like anyone else.

(proof submitted with above mentioned unattached check/stub) But, no, they wanted his year to date average. Which is different due to being off for Covid, weather, and waiting for the unemployment payments. We were denied because THEY didnt correctly ask a question. Apparently your answers are engraved in stone.

Youre not allowed to any corrections, even though it was THEIR mistake. They said people lie about their income all the time, did they just refer to us as liars? I believe they did! So, if he would have said his year to date average instead of current weekly one, it would have been approved.

We were denied because of their inability to properly ask questions. Unbelievable

Oh come off of it...You were a TERRIBLE risk... Count yourself lucky they said no.

In a year, you would be back here, whining about how you felt they took advantage of you after you noticed none of your initial payments were going to the principal. This is a good thing but you want to whine about it.

Excuse me, but that was an extremely rude and completely uncalled for comment. This is a forum to help others try and make informed decisions, not to pass judgement on total strangers.

I hope you can find a more positive way to use your time in the future. Best regards.

Excuse me but this is a PUBLIC forum. Post on a PUBLIC forum, and expect the PUBLIC to respond even if the comments aren't touchy-feely served on a silver platter.

This person (or you) knows full well why they said no. First of all, NO ONE goes to this company unless they have terrible credit and are desperate.

The desperate often times jump into terrible loan products like this only to find out they've dug themselves into a deeper hole. Look at the other complaints and then come back and tell me I'm wrong.

I didn’t even know about this forum beforehand. Yes my credit tanked due to being a victim of identity theft.

If you would have read my entire comment you’d of seen that. I was trying to find a way to bridge the gap in my finances while I’m trying to recoup my losses. I love how y’all think that because I went to this company it’s because I’m not good with my money or something.

I had 750+ score in February. So excuse the heck out of me for trying to warn others that may find themselves in a *** situation like mine and forced to look into financial assistance from a glorified payday loan company.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-2203001

Someone with a 750+ credit score would go to a bank or credit union. No one in their right mind who has a choice would volunteer to pay MORE interest than they needed to. You are a LIAR and you let them hurt your feelings.
