Shady business practices

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I did not sign up, offer, give permission or otherwise contact the Mariner Finance Florida Inc for any loans or debt issues, however like everyone else I get a lovely check in the mail. Please if you receive one of these just go DESTROY IT, do not cash it, you'd be better off finding a loan shark, buying lottery tickets, bingo night, or waiting for another govt stimulus check. The interest rate on mine was 30%, no typo. I would owe this shady company almost half of the loan, oh and lets spread it out over 30 payments. No Thanks, users beware and again stay away from this company.

Forget the apology. You've cut the cord when you ditched the "check".

Why would you want to maintain contact with someone like that for even another second? It can't possibly do you one whit of good.

Did you send a check? Did the check clear?

If not, they didn’t get it. Di Checks are scanned and posted.

If you’re not mailing to the address they tell you to, you ein the risk of the payment going missing. Oh and BTW, there’s an intentional slow down of the US mail.

TREATMENT

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Today I was at your location on 10945 S. Cicero to pay off my loan .......EARLY!!

Since it was raining hard, I stayed in my niece's car until it slacked up.

As we were waiting until the rain subsided, we noticed the lady at the front desk as well as the white lady, with yellow sweater and glasses were staring at us.

Once the rain subsided, I got out of the car with overnight envelope, umbrella as well as mask.

The ladies were still staring as I approached the door.

You know she didn't move until I knocked...which was crazy since they saw me get out of the car!! It was also STILL raining!!

Then the white lady with yellow sweater and glasses....started talking to me thru the glass door!!

I couldn't believe she was trying to have a conversation with me thru a MASK and GLASS DOOR!!!

I was CONFUSED since she didn't do the same to the white couple that entered before I got out of the car!!

They were welcomed in.....

I informed her that I don't understand anything she is saying. Then she opened the door....CORRECTION....

She CRACKED the door and started talking.

I couldn't believe she didn't allow me in out of the rain. Since I ONLY wanted a receipt that showed PAID-N-FULL!!

I was proud to pay it off early which would allow me to place that money in my savings.

Then to add insult to injury, she wouldn't take my overnight envelope.

She said I had to put it in the mailbox. Which is located on the SAME door that was CRACKED!!! Is she

SERIOUS!!!

I was still standing by the door, when she closed and locked it in my face!!!

If she has an issue with servicing people of color....DON'T have a CUSTOMER SERVICE job!!

Get a job where you are in the back room, away from people. Since you are a REPRESENTATIVE of your employer!!!

I felt like she didn't want to handle/touch ANYTHING from a person of color.

I don't know if she thought my color would rub off on her.

I don't know if she thought we (my niece and I) were going to rob the place because of her demeanor......her vibe. Since she was not friendly AT ALL!!

I am so glad my loan is paid off and because of this experience, I would have a future relationship with this company!!

Wow. The negativity is drenching and the unprofessionalism is a stain to this company.

But the racism? Okay - even with all the negativity and unprofessionalism, I was still considering the loan. But the racism did it for me. Really - they said No one cares.

Care about your business. Care about your character. Care about your soul. Karma is real.

You reap what you sew. Keep putting out bad unfriendly unprofessional vibes and it will not only hurt your company, it will leave a dark stain on your soul. You will have to answer to God one day. We must agree to Terms of Service about our online conduct.

You should agree to the same terms.

Don't expect to get what you're not putting out. Common courtesy, a professional attitude, some heartfelt joy and a little smile just might get you a little further in life and some peace to your soul.

LOL... Two things show you have little to NO sense.

The first is you're considering a loan from a place like this. You must be desperate and have bad credit, their favorite customer. Secondly, you haven't been around dead beats online much. The first thing they will do when presented with a comment that doesn't meet up with their lame narrative is bleat out a version of "you must work for(insert company I'm mad at)." As if any company here has time to comment.

Look at the comments, they're full of fools who didn't bother to READ or UNDERSTAND the contracts they're getting into. They don't have enough sense to understand this is expensive money and it will be hard to pay it off. They don't understand that compassion or empathy is not in the contract. Which brings us to the next most used comment, a version of "life happens" or "not everyone is born with a silver spoon in their mouth.

They don't CARE if you're not held to a contract YOU signed, someone will lose their job and end up like YOU. Bottom line, do not sign if you're too stupid to read it and too weak as a man/woman to honor your signature. If you don't understand the comment, it's clear you're too stupid to enter into a contract.

This is why basic finance should be mandatory to graduate from high school. OK...Say it again loser...."You must work for them."

Correct : sympathy, empathy, compassion simply mean a breached contract to companies like that. You expect too much from them if you expect anything but the money they lent you which you now will not repay. That is called "theft" in some circles.

The Mokena IL branch has some very rude employees by the names of Christina and Evelyn. I am tired of the constant harassment and even calling my work. I CAN NOT take personal calls at work and Ive told them that. I want to transfer my file out of that office and have my phone numbers deleted. Ive explained to them i am In a financial hardship, Ive even underwent a loan modification and what was their solution... offer to refinance my loan again just to make money off me. I run a month behind on my payments but I still make them. The phone calls to my work need to end . Evelyn also called my cell phone twice in a row and then immediately called my work

So, you have financial hardships but have a way to post this banal, inane and lame rant. Cut it off and put it on your notes.

Oh, and by the way, YOU agreed to this mess when you went into an expensive crazy shop like this and took their crazy expensive money.

You knew you couldn't afford to pay them back and now you want someone to not do their job and get fired. Gotcha...OK, this is the part where you say "you must work for them."

One of your Florida locations and company have no compassion, recently took a large pay cut as I am in the hospitality industry. Cant pause payment.

I have called the location and spoken with them, they will not let me pause payment on this. I recently took a large pay cut due to the Covid-19. I work in the hospitality industry so this pandemic is affecting my job significantly. Your staff just says no nothing we can do.

No assistance or anything. Someone who is trying to not default on something and call in advance to work this out. I could understand if I had request this many times or this situation was not going on with Covid-19. I have never been late or missed a payment on anything with this company.

I will not stand for this at all. This will be presented to my personal attorney if this is not rectified.

Here we go. Serial dead beats who want to blame a situation that just happened 2 weeks ago for not being able to make their notes.

C'mon. You were in trouble long before this but not have a way to try and blame something else other than yourself for being in a position where you have to trade with a turkey of a company like this. You should have been budgeting a long time ago. As an example, you have a way to pay for whatever it is that allows you to post this lame nonsense.

You should have cut it months ago. As far as an attorney, dead beats who trade at bad credit, last chance places like this don't have lawyer money. IF you did, you wouldn't have loan from this place.

You would be trading at a real bank or credit union. What a loser....

I went by the local office yesterday not realizing that they are still operating on an appointment basis only. I wanted to make a payment and they were not helpful at all. I am a disabled Veteran who can't stand or be in the heat for any length of time. They wanted me to either stand outside or sit in my hot car just to fill out a check. It would not have hurt anyone to allow me to come in and sit in the cool air (way more than 6 feet away from anyone) while I wrote my check. I would rather pay online but you charge for that. Now I have to make a special trip to make the payment. If I had the money, I would pay the loan and NEVER do business with you again.

You sound like a complete and utter fool. "cuz" you deserve this idiot.

How about you make copies of your back up, put it in an envelope, mail it to the credit agencies along with a dispute letter? While you're at it, send the same backup, registered mail to this place with a dispute letter. The credit agencies will make this company prove you owe or remove the negative comments from your credit. In the meantime, you will have proof the company got your letter to prove your point.

You'll have to put int some work here. You'll have to compose a proper sentence using real words. This isn't a text to one of your lame friends.

This is business correspondence. Good luck simpleton.

This company filed a civil complaint after I told them my husband passed. I told them as soon as I get employment, I would pay them, but they still call multiple times a day, using all my message space.

They got all the paperwork for the loan the day before our appointment. Bring the only income was my husbands, they based the loan on his income, yet put the loan under my name and only had me as the insured for an added 50.00 a month.

I am counter suing because it was deceptive on their part. They would not allow me to cancel it.

"Forced me to finance insurance" Did they put a pistol to your head and force you to sign up for a loan? If not, your bad credit and desperation forced you to sign up.

You could have walked out at any time before taking that money. Typical dead beat noise. You can tell you're one by the way you pad out complaints with stuff not relevant to you owing them money.

You owed money long before the death in your family just as other dead beats owed money before the virus showed up. "You must work for them."

No, he had the paperwork ready before we got there. When I got home and read the insurance info, I had 10 days to review it.

I called them right away to cancel it being I was not employed. That was a requirement of the insurance.

They said for me to not worry about it. Their mess up on that one.

No, YOU messed up. First by going to this place, second by signing anything without reviewing it.

Only an idiot would think they have 10 days to review a contract. This is YOUR fault.

Deal with it and stop being an idiot. Your post is a great warning to others not to sign anything without understanding it.

And feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, but you can’t extend unemployment insurance to someone that’s not employed. Had they insured my husband, their butts would’ve been covered.

Their response was he was too old. Discriminatory?

I accepted a check in the mail, unsolicited by me, but caught me at a time I could use the money and thought I could repay easily enough. After two years of on time payments, I missed one due to health reasons. They closed my account and sued me. They got a judgement for more than I had borrowed, even though I responded to the lawsuit. Now, in the midst of the corona virus, they are trying to garnish my wages, bank account and lien my property. Are you serious?

So, the moral of the story is to not be stupid and cash checks that just show up in the mail. Thanks for that hard-hitting compelling report.

You may want to add a little more to this. Most places will not sue if you're down a single payment. You're probably lying to gain sympathy. They close accounts if you're serial dead beat who they no longer want on their books.

Secondly, did you bother to show up for the trial? Responding and actually showing up are two different things. Finally, you sound like a typical serial dead beat trying to pull the COVID Card. You were in deep kimchi long before this virus became a thing.

The only crook here is someone who borrowed money and didn't want to pay it back. That would be you.

OK, deadbeats love to say this. "You must work for them."

"not work with " Pro Tip: People who use this phrase are typically dead beats who for whatever reason want people to allow them out of the terms YOU agreed to. I do have an out for you.

Pull the terms YOU agreed to, show them the "work with me," "life happens" or "empathy" clauses and you should be fine. If not, you're toast. They "helped" you when they gave your low credit broke self some money. Of course they want their money.

That's what you said you would do when you took that super expensive, stupid money.

I wouldn't advise you to go to this place or any other if you're not prepared to step up an honor your terms. OK...Next fave loser comment is "You must work for them."

LOL... So you're a tycoon, with its own house, bought it with your own cash, who borrowed high-interest money from bad credit, low credit score place on a POS truck and you're thinking you're doing something in life?

C'mon mate Banks don't lien(you told on yourself) property unless someone isn't paying their notes or you're bad risk. They do this when they smell dead beat in the air. You want them to remove a lien BEFORE you've finally paid the thing off. What reality do you come from?

Oh yeah, a dead beats reality. Another way you told on yourself is wanting them to set up autopayments. What kind of bank won't take auto payments? One that has either been stiffed too many times is one who is about to send a dead beat out to collections.

BTW mate, "customer service" is not bending over backward to let you out of the terms you agreed to. You agreed to pay the loan off. Only a FOOL would think anyone would release their leverage so you can sell off something they have a lien on to do lord knows what with the money. It's a sure bet whatever you get won't cover that stupid loan you took.

But hey, it's OK, you have all these other assets. Why not take a lower interest loan on your house and pay this ridiculous @#$# off?

Yeah you know why.... It is so sad that you're completely oblivious.

Its funny I called to verify the check and was able to do so twice. This company is a rip off and they try to hold up your payment so they can collect unnecessary interest to benefit them. Be careful, they lie a lot.

they say that there is no penalty for early payment, but that is incorrect. for instance if you 3 payments at once instead of taking the interest on the payment that is due, they interest on everything that you paid. that results in a penalty.

You need to reach out to your State Attorney General and file a complaint as well as the CFPB and the Department of Financial Regulations in your state. I would recommend everyone on this website do the same. We can all also look at starting a class action against them too if need be.

Guest

This is an easy fix. Pull your contract, read and most importantly UNDERSTAND it.

Does early payment mean paying off the ENTIRE loan early or sending in what you THINK is 3 months of payments? Yeah, go back and read what you agreed to when you when into one of these crazy places and walked out with their crazy high-interest expensive money.

After actually reading and understanding the thing, you'll see that you didn't pay up early and anything you send in for quite some time will go to interest first and not reduce the principle. This is why basic finance should be mandatory in order to graduate from high school

No clue what this rule is but it sure sounds like you didn't both to read or understand what you were getting into. If you did, you would either know what's going on, kick yourself for being stupid and move on with life.

OR It's not in the paperwork you signed and you would be calling an attorney.

They let you play yourself. Give yourself 1 star for knowing how to handle finances and allowing anyone to "blow smoke" up anything.
